Gio Ponti (1891–1979) was one of the most inventive Italian architects and designers of his time. For more than 60 years, Ponti’s exuberant approach found expression in public and private commissions from buildings, interiors, and furniture to glass, ceramics, and flatware. In 1928, Ponti founded the magazine Domus, and through its pages, he influenced international design for over 50 years. These diverse and prolific achievements led to Ponti’s hiring in 1965, at the age of 74, to collaborate with Denver-based James Sudler Associates on the design of a new building for the Denver Art Museum.

Whimsical children’s book illustrations highlight animals and nature as a source of love, wonder and joy. Featuring more than 30 framed illustrations from the Little Golden Books series, vintage books and a reading nook, Golden Legacy features works from some of the best-known children’s books of the past 80 years, including “The Poky Little Puppy” illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren and “Chicken Little” illustrated by Richard Scarry. First published in 1942, Little Golden Books have delighted generations of readers. When children’s books were a luxury, the company used a uniform size to sell picture books at a modest price, making reading more accessible to families across the United States. Today, Little Golden Books boasts more than 700 book titles through Penguin Random House and has featured numerous Caldecott Medal-winning illustrators. This exhibition was organized by the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature, Abilene, Texas.

The exhibition Cowboy will bring together loans and new commissions from 27 artists representing a wide range of perspectives including Asian American artists, Latinx artists, and Native artists. The exhibition aims to shift the narrative of this figure’s cultural power and significance to be both historically accurate and creatively imaginative.

Examine conservation-themed “Spotlights” throughout the exhibition highlighting the technical and philosophical scope of modern conservation and preservation-related practices related to the Museum’s art collection.

The Arts of Oceania gallery will reopen with the presentation of a new temporary exhibition, Islands Beyond Blue: Niki Hastings-McFall and Treasures from the Oceania Collection. This presentation showcases the work of celebrated contemporary artist Niki Hastings-McFall, who will create site-specific work in conversation with works from the DAM’s Arts of Oceania collection.

Over the course of his career, Robert Weinberg captured images of those who made their mark on Denver. Best known for his work with the Intermountain Jewish News, Weinberg focused on portraits of people in the Denver community. Weinberg's photography adds a valuable dimension to the visual record of the Mile High City during the 1980s and 1990s.

This site-specific Design and Build outreach installation was created collaboratively by Design and Build program alumni and local artists, Scottie Burgess and Tiffany Matheson. The project was created in partnership with the Lowry Foundation as part of several artworks that contribute to the Lowry Art + Architecture loop, which celebrates the Lowry Foundation’s 25th anniversary. Furthermore, this exhibition was created through partial funding received from Denver Arts & Venues’ P.S. You Are Here grant program, Clark’s Market and MOA.
